Stay hydrated by eating

We've done some research and compiled a list of the best foods to help you stay hydrated. It's no surprise to us that these are all fruits and vegetables! All of the foods listed below contain at least 90% water. Add these to your diet, especially in this summer heat, to help your body stay hydrated.

Bell peppers, Cantaloupe, Cauliflower, Celery, Cucumbers, Radishes, Salad Greens (specifically spinach and iceberg lettuce), Strawberries, Tomatoes and Watermelon.

Let's take a minute to specifically address one of these foods listed above. Iceberg lettuce. The food that's labeled as having no substantive value. Now, this product may not have as many nutrients as darker greens but it still has value, especially when talking about hydration.  At only 11-14 calories per cup, this is a great food to aid in weight loss.

Iceberg lettuce also has magnesium, dietary fiber, potassium, iron and more. These health benefits aid in strengthening the immune system, heart health, the formation of red blood cells, etc.

Because it contains folate, iceberg lettuce is great for women and helpful during pregnancy to prevent certain conditions including spina bifida. It also helps with insomnia and can aid in relaxing and providing sound sleep. Who knew right?

Now, maybe consider adding iceberg lettuce to a sandwich, using it in place of a tortilla for tacos, and more!
